Day 15 – Just a normal day...
What I Learned
I began the day by reviewing my codebase to identify areas for improvement. I then watched a couple of YouTube videos about ensemble stacking, as I will be overseeing the ensemble architecture in our group. This was to reinforce my understanding from last week and to address anything I might have missed. I helped Ignatius fix the GPU detection issue on his PC, which he had been struggling with since last week. During my lunch break, I spent time in the lab exploring similar codebases on GitHub to learn from others’ implementations.
After lunch, Mr. Pelumi took us on a mini tour of the CBEIS building, where we saw some classrooms and lab rooms. This half-hour tour provided a much-needed break to stretch our legs. Upon returning, I helped Michelle in switching her old PC for a new one since her previous one was incompatible with her GPU. Unfortunately, the spare PC turned out to be broken, so Mr. Pelumi allowed her to use the PC in front of the lab. I helped Michelle install Jupyter Notebook, the required libraries, and resolve the GPU detection issue. Finally, I went to Yusrat to help her with a problem she had been facing since the morning. She switched from Google Colab to a local Jupyter environment, and her code was not working on her local machine. I helped her troubleshoot the issue.
Blockers
No issues faced.
Reflection
The day went fine, I would say. I watched a couple of videos on topics I covered last week to revise and test my knowledge, as well as to prepare for what I will be doing this week. I also helped all 3 of my peers troubleshoot their issues. I enjoy helping others, as it reinforces my own skills and fosters cooperation and close bonding. I look forward to developing another ensemble model this week and learning Optuna for hyperparameter optimization.
